International Programs Advisory Group
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Relations) is accountable to the Vice-Chancellor for operational matters in the international programs portfolio.
The forum that provides advice to inform the decisions of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Relations) is the International Programs Advisory Group (IPAG). It advises on strategic and policy advice in the context of the University’s desire to secure its position as a leading international university in the twenty-first century. The group provides advice on the co-ordination of the University’s international activities and monitors performance against its internationalisation targets.
Relationship to University Committees and Portfolio Heads
On advice from the IPAG, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Relations) may refer issues to University committees which have significant policy, resource or academic implications, or other portfolio heads for issues relevant to their portfolio.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Relations) may establish further advisory groups to provide information and recommendations to IPAG.

Terms of Reference
- To provide advice to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Relations) on the development of the international elements of ‘Growing Esteem’ and the University’s Strategic and Operational Plans, and monitor the University’s performance in this area.
- To review policy and provide strategic advice to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Relations) on international matters including:
- The development and implementation of an Internationalisation Plan,
- International developments and trends likely to impact upon the implementation of the University’s international programs and achievement of its international objectives
- The development and implementation of country/region specific plans for academic, community and entrepreneurial engagement, and
- The establishment and cyclical review of bilateral and multilateral institutional agreements for academic cooperation and exchange
- To monitor the involvement of the University in international consortia such as Universitas 21, and to report to the Senior Executive on the development of those networks
- To develop and monitor research collaboration with international partners
- To provide advice on proposals for the delivery of courses offshore.
Reporting
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Relations) refers operational matters unable to be resolved at the portfolio level to Senior Executive, and provides a summary of decisions for the information of Senior Executive.
Decisions taken by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Relations) and other information of interest to the University community will be communicated to the relevant stakeholders via means appropriate to the audience.
